Local pottery and sculptor Darryl Frost has recently opened a new pottery studio with a large gallery on the Great Taste Trail Coastal Route. Darryl specialises in anagama wood fired ceramics and his Japanese-style anamaga kilns tumble down the hill behind the gallery. Wood-firing is not for the faint-hearted. The large size of the kiln means the potter needs a lot of work to fill it, so the firings are a grand occasion. A lot of wood is required, and the firing team need to be on hand to feed the kiln for many hours.
